blickfang Zurich

21 I 22 I 23 November 2014

The unique charm of blickfang always was based on the chance to meet the creators behind the various products and to be able to buy everything directly at the boothes. Design orientated consumers, designers and tradesmen can come together to sample the newest and most innovative trends. Bringing all these groups together at the «point of sale» is an important factor in the blickfang concept. The interaction is also important for the designers who get the unique possibility to sell their products directly eliminating the middle man and to get a first hand look at how their products are accepted on the open market. Blickfang has established itself as an annual event over the past twenty years in Zurich, Stuttgart, Basel, Hamburg and Vienna and will this year celebrate its premiere in Hamburg from the 12th until the 14th of October at the Deichtorhallen and in the Scandinavian hotspot Copenhagen from the 9th until the 11th of November at the Øksnehallen.

blickfang - your design shopping event

Today's consumer is discriminating and critical. He wants to be entertained and inspired in many senses. In a world of global brands and uniformed offers, he is looking for something individual, something very unique: however, objects that speak for his personal lifestyle. This is exactly what the blickfang Company wanted to realize when first organizing the design trade show in Stuttgart, Germany. The idea was to present new and exciting products from many facets of lifestyle such as fashion, jewellery, accessories and interior design all together in one inspiring and curated environment.

Sister Act

Komana is designed and crafted by Swiss sisters Nina, a seamstress, and Livia, a print designer trained at Central St. Martins in London. They create fun and individual clothing for Women and Men and some eye catching interior pieces.

Carefully selected woods and sophisticated handcrafting guarantee the highest quality down to the last detail. Baptiste's showpiece is a coat stand that is reminiscent of a piece of wood floating down the Rhine. “y”, as Baptiste has called this handsome piece, calls to mind a small tree and is both a sculpture and coat stand in one. Those who have always wanted a tree in their sitting room will be in the right place at blickfang Zürich from 21 | 22 | 23 November 2014.

Klybeck: a quarter, a tree, a coat stand

Klybeck is the quarter (or Quartier as the swiss say) in Kleinbasel that borders on the river Rhine, that is both port area and artists' quarter and is situated close to the three-border area. Klybeck is also the name of Baptiste Ducommun's furniture label. The young furniture maker and designer with a studio in Klybeck Street (where else?) designs and produces high-class furniture.

Never forget to play

The philosophie of milli monka is simply just to play: with shapes, with combinations, with proportions, with those kind of hard times. Wearable but different clothes to impart individuality, just to be a little bit different than the normal. All that by speaking with no words ... Every collection is based on a story or emotionworld, which milli monka translates into fashion. Life´s short and that´s why we all should never forget to play.
