Alfredo Häberli at blickfang Zurich

Alfredo Häberli, a loyal visitor and supporter of blickfang since the very first event 15 years ago. In November 2012 at blickfang Zurich, he was part of the blickfang designprize jury among Rossana Orlandi and the blickfang Curator of the Year Jaime Hayón. We have been able to speak to him right after the award show.

Tablecloths made of high quality Dutch damask. The graphic pattern mix of "Notgeld" arises from the complex ornaments of various euro banknotes, which are intended to prevent counterfeiters to copy the notes. Or the smart Inside Out Furniture: a customizable connection system designed to reduce the transport volume of furniture to a minimum. The small parts are delivered, while the remaining material must be purchased and cut to length on site. Each piece of furniture can be individually designed in its dimensions, simple building instructions are available for download, though.

The winners of the golden blickfang awards in Zurich

"We discussed very carefully and at the end it wasn't easy," says Alfredo Häberli, this year's jury member of the blickfang awards in Zurich. As a lucky winner of the long consultation finally emerged the Rotterdam Studio Minale-Madea. "Perhaps it is the exquisite blend of the two, actually they both come from two important design Nations", Rossana Orlandi said about the Italian-Japanese designer couple who as been working and living together since 2006.

The changing number of layers determine the varying light transmittance of the cylindric light shade. Along with the fine deformations caused by the combustion process, vibrant unique pieces arise that describe the traditional material and its craft artfully.
The lamps are equipped with two different, high-intensity LED modules that render two different model sizes. Upon request, however, other sizes can be made.
